Labourers protest against restrictions on Torkham border

Protestors appealed the high-ranking officials from both Pakistan and Afghanistan to lift the restrictions imposed on workers at Torkham Border

Daily wagers and labourers on Thursday staged a protest demonstration Landikotal Bazaar and demanded an end to restrictions and harassment by border authorities.
The protesters were holding placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the restrictions and harassment with the daily wangers who frequently cross Torkham border.
They warned that if such behavior continues, they would tighten their stance against National Logistic Cell(NLC), Frontier Corps(FC) and police personnel stationed at Torkham.
The demonstration was attended by political leaders, local government representatives, labourers union leaders and a large number of traders.

Prominent participants included senior JUI leader Mufti Muhammad Ijaz Shinwari, Syed Ahmed Banuri, Chairman Wali Muhammad Shinwari, Chairman Abdul Rauf Shinwari, labor leader Haji Salam Shinwari and community leaders such as Farman Shinwari, Ashraf Gul Taroon, Maulana Rahmatullah Nasih, Qari Jihad Shah Afridi, ANP’s Abdul Jabbar Afridi, and others.
They demanded the provision of employment opportunities, relief for workers and an end to unnecessary harassment.
The protesters emphasized the importance of ensuring the livelihood of Torkham Border workers, warning of intensified protests if their demands are not met.
