MoU inked to address healthcare challenges in southern districts of KP

The provincial health department on Thursday inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with local organizations to address healthcare challenges faced by the marginalized segments of south region Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and ensure better facilities and service delivery to the people.
The MoU was inked in a ceremony held here at the department of health which was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister on Health, Ihtisham Ali and Special Secretary Health for Polio Eradication, Abdul Basit.
Director General (DG) health department Dr Muhammad Saleem, health officials Provincial Emergency Operations Center and local organizations were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Advisor to CM on Health, Ihtisham Ali appreciated the initiative saying that provision of basic healthcare services to the deprived segments particularly women and children in southern parts of the province was a good step towards ensuring better healthcare and service delivery.
He said that this initiative places a strong emphasis on protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases and ensuring maternal health services for women. Under this initiative Health Department is refurbishing and operationalizing 35 healthcare facilities in 28 of the most underserved union councils across South KP out of which 18 facilities will be revamped in D. I Khan while 13 facilities in District Tank, two in District Bannu and one each in District North Waziristan and in District South Waziristan Lower to meet community needs.
Sharing his viewpoints, Director General Health Dept KP, Dr Muhammad Saleem said that the Health Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is dedicated to transforming these facilities into sustainable centers of care that meet operational standards and serve as reliable sources of healthcare for the region.
Special Secretary Health for Polio Eradication, Abdul Basit said that this step will help in provision of better and improved healthcare services to the people directly to the doorsteps of the most affected communities in the region. Abdul Basit said that the refurbished facilities will provide a wide range of services, including routine immunizations for children to protect them from preventable diseases, maternal healthcare, treatment for common illnesses, and community outreach programs aimed at promoting health awareness.
