PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Syed Fakhar Jehan has directed officials from the Department of Communications and Works (C&W) to expedite the ongoing development project at Arbab Niaz Stadium in Peshawar. During a meeting on Friday, the Minister emphasized the need to accelerate civil work by implementing a double-shift schedule, ensuring the completion of the project without delays. He stressed that this is crucial for hosting Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches at the stadium. The Minister assured that funds would be released promptly to the concerned department, and any outstanding arrears would also be cleared to facilitate the progress of the project. The meeting was attended by officials from C&W, the Department of Sports, and the Superintendent of Engineering Mega Projects, who briefed the Minister on the current status and challenges associated with the stadium’s development. Minister Fakhar Jihan expressed his concern over the prolonged construction timeline and stressed the need for the project to be completed within the early months of the next year, in time for international and PSL events.
