Mayor of Peshawar Haji Zubair Ali emphasized the critical role of education in the development of any nation, adding that education is essential for creating a civilized and developed society.
He was expressing these views while addressing a ceremony at Peshawar Public School here on Thursday.
Haji Zubair Ali highlighted that an educated society is key to overcoming issues like poverty, ignorance, and other social challenges.
Education is the best investment for the future, and the provincial government should ensure timely release of funds to meet the needs of schools and colleges, particularly for salaries and pensions, he added.
He also advocated for the solarization of educational institutions to ensure uninterrupted electricity and reduce electricity costs.
During his visit to Peshawar Public School on Warsak Road, the Mayor met with the school principal and teachers.
He shared a personal connection with the institution, recalling that 27 years ago, he was a student at the same school. He expressed gratitude for the teachers’ dedication, which he credited for his success in becoming the Mayor of Peshawar.
He acknowledged that many former students of the school are now serving the country in prominent positions.
In his address to the students, Mayor Zubair Ali urged them to focus on their education and avoid negative influences, as they will be responsible for the future of the nation.
He praised the school for its excellent results and the high positions attained by its alumni. In recognition of the school’s achievements, the principal presented the Mayor with a shield as a token of appreciation.
