PA body reviews mineral department performance

The Standing Committee on the Minerals Department of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa convened under the chairmanship of MPA Ikramullah Ghazi.
The meeting was attended by committee members MPA Hameed-ur-Rehman, Mehboob Sher, Nisar Baz, Ajab Gul, and Shafiullah Jan, alongside the secretary and other relevant officials from the Minerals Department.
The secretary provided a comprehensive briefing on the department’s performance and outlined its future plans.
According to a statement , Chairman Ikramullah Ghazi emphasized the committee’s commitment to improving the system and ensuring better facilities for landowners and mine operators.
“The department satisfactorily answered the questions raised by members,” said Ghazi. “Our goal is to provide the best support to landowners and leaseholders, adding the PA body will take steps to resolve comprehensively and promptly issues of mining sector and encouraging new investments and mitigating the province’s financial challenges.”The chairman further underscored the importance of responsible mining practices, particularly in the use of explosives, to minimize disruption to local communities.
He urged mine owners and department officials to take strict measures to prevent misuse, ensuring public safety.
Ghazi highlighted the need to reinvest revenue generated from natural resources into local health and development projects.
“Our job is to create ease for the people, not disrupt their lives or businesses. We must take necessary steps to foster societal improvement,” he concluded.
The meeting reaffirmed the committee’s focus on resolving issues and promoting sustainable development in the minerals sector.
