PESHAWAR
PTI’s central information secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, stated that the founder of PTI’s call for civil disobedience was aimed at overseas Pakistanis.
Due to the current situation, civil disobedience had to be observed. The first phase of the movement is ongoing and will continue. He expressed these views during a press conference at the Information Cell, Civil Secretariat, Peshawar.
Sheikh Waqas Akram further said that they are fighting for several rights, including the right to vote for overseas Pakistanis.
Overseas Pakistanis and their families have been threatened, blackmailed, arrested, and subjected to violence. If the interests of overseas Pakistanis are not protected here, how can we expect remittances from them? Overseas Pakistanis are being threatened with the cancellation of their passports.
The country benefits economically from the remittances of overseas Pakistanis.
In response to a question, Sheikh Waqas Akram said that the release of prisoners is not a result of negotiations, and we completely deny this.
All these prisoners have served their sentences, and some may have one or two months left. We have asked overseas Pakistanis to make sacrifices, but we have not forced them.
Sheikh Waqas Akram said that the call for civil disobedience is serious, and it will continue.
If overseas Pakistanis are treated this way, they will not send money. This is a huge blow to the fake government. The founder’s call is still ongoing, it has not stopped.
The judicial inquiry into the events of May 9 and November 26, and the release of prisoners, are demands from the founder. The founder’s priority is the release of prisoners from May 9 and November 26 before his own release.
We are not seeking a deal; we will observe the progress of negotiations based on the government’s seriousness. The founder of PTI will come out under the judicial system.
Even if the founder is sentenced, the negotiation process will continue. We are not asking for a deal, we are seeking justice.
