The protesters called off their protest after two days and Pak-Afghan highway was reopened when police high ups suspended Station House Officer of Landikotal Adnan Afridi and initiated inquiry against him on Friday.
Talking to media in Landikotal mayor Shah Khlid Shinwari said that they held talks with investigation superintendent of police Roohul Amin and other police officers. He said on the directives of district police officer SHO Adnan Afridi was suspended and launched inquiry against him.
Quoting superintendent of police Roohul Amin, Shah Khalid said they were assured that a fair inquiry would be conducted against the accused police officer and would be rewarded if found guilty. He said within ten days the inquiry would be completed.
Meanwhile, mayor Shah Khalid Shinwari called off the strike on the second day and reopened the Pak-Afghan highway and Landikotal bazaar.
It worth mentioning here that the road was blocked and Bazaar was closed after a social worker Sawab Noor Shinwari was picked up by police in Landikotal and allegedly tortured him.
Police later released Swab Noor Shinwari who accused SHO and his body guards that they severely tortured him. On the other hand police accused Swab Noor Shinwari that he had scuffled with a police officer as he was arrested.
Long queues of empty and loaded trucks and passengers coaches waiting for two days started their journey towards their destinations and the protesters dispersed peacefully.
