PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) lawmaker Ahmad Karim Kundi has criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for the delay in framing of necessary rules and regulations for various acts passed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. He specifically pointed out the Environmental Protection Bill, which was passed two years ago but has yet to see the implementation of the required rules of the legislation for its enforcement in the province. The PPP leader expressed concern that this delay was hindering the effective execution of the important legislation aimed at safeguarding the environment in KP. Kundi slammed the PTI-led provincial government for turning the KP Assembly into a “factory for passing laws,” while many of these laws remain unimplemented due to delays in drafting the necessary rules and regulations by the executive. During the Assembly session, a question raised by PPP Member of Assembly, Ahmad Karim Kundi, highlighted a growing concern over the legislative process in the province and failure of the executive in drafting necessary rules and regulations. The PPP leader also questioned the overall benefit of numerous other laws that had been enacted in the province by the ruling party but had made little to no tangible impact on the public. In response to Kundi’s concerns, the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly took immediate notice of the delay in formulating rules for the passed laws. Staff Reporter
