DLP Report
TANK
A shocking incident unfolded at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) office in Tank when an ordinary citizen was reportedly treated rudely by DC Tanvir Khattak while attempting to address a legitimate grievance under the Chief Minister’s (CM) Awami Agenda.
According to the citizen, who requested anonymity for fear of reprisal, he visited the DC office on Tuesday during the open-door hours as part of a follow-up to directives issued by the Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) in a July 2024 judgment.
The MBR had instructed the compliance of specific actions, which the citizen claims are being deliberately delayed by the DC’s office, allegedly due to the influence of a corrupt Kanungo (land revenue officer) Israr Shah.
The citizen alleges that despite the MBR’s clear directives, Deputy Commissioner Tanvir Khattak dismissed the validity of the MBR’s authority, claiming that he did not regard it as a court.
During the exchange of words, the DC reportedly ordered his escort sepoys to expel the citizen from the office saying as “I am DC not sitting here only to obey MBR.”
The interaction, which took place between 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm, was witnessed by some other PTI stalwarts including Rehmat Kundi, a well-known social and political activist in Tank.
“I went to the DC office to ensure the compliance of the MBR’s judgment, but I was insulted and thrown out,” said the citizen. “The DC’s behavior was not only rude but also unprofessional, and it seems like he’s protecting a corrupt Kanungo involved in forgery of land revenue records.”
The citizen further alleged that both the DC and inquiry officer Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Allah Noor Sherani have been bribed by the Kanungo, as evidenced by their continued inaction and apparent favoritism toward the officer.
Rehmat Kundi, who was present during the incident, condemned the DC’s treatment of the citizen and raised concerns about the broader implications of such actions on the rule of law in the district.
The citizen also pointed to security camera footage, which is said to capture the moment he was forcefully out from the office. However, there are concerns that media files from the CCTV footage could be deleted, potentially undermining the credibility of the incident.
This controversy raises significant questions about the effectiveness of the MBR-1 as a Court and the accountability of government officials in implementing judicial directives. As tensions mount, the local community and political observers are calling for transparency and swift action to address these serious allegations.
The citizen said that the FSL report clearly explains the Kanungo made this forgery but they are making tactics to save their official.
The citizens demanded the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and SMBR to take notice against DC and fulfill the impartial inquiry as soon as possible.
When contacted DC Tanvir Khattak he denied the incident while PTI District President Rehmat Kundi told that he was present and desired to play the role on time but unfortunately failed to cool down.
Later, the DC issued order to withdraw the inquiry from ADC Allah Noor for reason of lapse of four months not to submit inquiry report and appointed ADC Muhammad Yousaf (F&P) to submit inquiry report alongwith recommendation within one week till January 22.
