JUI-F senior leader and lawmaker Maulana Lutfur Rehman on Friday urged the leadership of the political parties to shun their differences for democracy in the country, adding that political differences should not undermine democracy.
He stated while speaking at the floor of KP Assembly that if political figures continue to be at odds with each other, democracy will weaken.
He urged for a more thoughtful and diplomatic approach in moving forward, stressing that if the opposition presents any stance, it should not be dismissed as mere opposition for the sake of opposition.
Maulana Lutfur Rehman criticized the ongoing culture of intolerance, noting that it has reached new heights, despite the fact that PTI has been in power for 11 years.
He pointed out the lack of seriousness within PTI, specifically referencing the Chief Minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, who has been consistently displaying an unserious attitude towards Maulana’s Fazlur Rehman and his party leadership.
He further added that, as a principle, no political party or leader should support vindictive actions against opponents. “Disagreement is the essence of democracy,” Maulana stated. “In a democratic setup, we should provide opportunities to one another.”
