Govt urged to strengthen leprosy treatment in KP

President of the Leprosy TB Blindness Relief Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prof Mohammad Arif Khan has emphasized the need for early diagnosis of leprosy to prevent disability and poverty among patients. He urged timely medical intervention to help patients lead dignified lives as productive members of society.
He also called on KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, and health authorities to take urgent measures to improve leprosy treatment and care across the province. Speaking at a ceremony on World Leprosy Day at Syed Anwar Medical Center, Dabgari Garden, Peshawar, Prof Arif Khan highlighted that leprosy remains a persistent health challenge in Pakistan, with cases reported across the country. He noted that free treatment programs have successfully rehabilitated hundreds of affected individuals.
Vice President Dr Raheel Umeer Malik, General Secretary Abdul Naeem Sarhadhi, Joint Secretary Prof Dr Zakin Ahmed Khan, Finance Secretary Hidayatullah Khan, Coordinator Anis Ahmed Khan, and several other members attended the event in large numbers.
Arif Khan appealed for greater public support in providing medicines, food, clothing, and other necessities for leprosy patients at the Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar.
