The labor wing of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Insaf Labour Wing has announced nationwide protests on February 8, demanding the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
Pakistan’s Central Secretary General of Insaf Labour Abdul Saboor Shah stated that following the directives of the central president of the wing, workers across Pakistan will hold demonstrations in their respective districts on February 6, leading up to the main protest.
Speaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC), Shah said that a large gathering is expected in Swabi on February 8, under the leadership of Provincial President Junaid Akbar.
He further stated that labor unions across KP will organize rallies on February 6 as part of the protest campaign.
Criticizing the government, Shah condemned the implementation of the PECA Act, calling it a move to suppress press freedom and dissent. He accused President Asif Ali Zardari of passing what he termed an “illegal bill” and vowed that the labor class would not remain silent.
“The working class has risen. We will ensure the release of our founding chairman. February 8 will be observed as Black Day,” he declared, urging workers to participate in both the February 6 rallies and the February 8 protests.
