LAHORE
Lahore High Court (LHC) while ordering to stop dogs culling through shooting campaign in Lahore division has sought reply from Punjab government, Deputy Commissioner (D.C) Lahore and MCL.
The petitions filed by Iraj Hassan and others came up for hearing before justice Shahid Karim of LHC Tuesday.
Punjab government, Commissioner Lahore division, DC Lahore and others have been made respondents in the petition.
The counsel for the petitioners took the plea dogs are being culled in Lahore division in illegal way by administration.
Policy was hammered out to cull the stray dogs through vaccine. The administration on the other hand is culling dogs through shooting instead of implementing the policy.
The counsel raised the point that according to petitioner over 1000 doges were culled through shooting in two weeks.
The request was made through the petition that animal birth control policy be implemented.
LHC while issuing stay order against dogs culling campaign ordered the state counsel to appear before it on next hearing after obtaining instructions.
The court stopped dogs culling campaign in Lahore division till next order.
