During hearing of May 9 related cases. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi has remarked the rights of the accused will be protected in the decision regarding completion of trial in 4 months.
During hearing of case related to revocation of bail in connection with May 9 incident, counsel Latif Khosa raised objection over the order regarding completion of trial within 4 months taking the plea has it happened ever so that trial is completed within 4 months.
CJP Yahya Afridi remarked learned counsel should not say so. The law asks for holding day to day hearing of cases in anti terrorism court.
The counsel said trial will become upset due to order of court related to 4 months.
The CJP remarked trial is matter of respective high court and administrative judge. SC will not conduct monitoring of trial.
Counsel Latif Khosa said there are 500 cases related to May 9 and 24000 accused persons are absconding.
The CJP remarked the rights of the accused will be protected in the decision regarding completion of trial in 4 months.
