Welfare commission reviews child protection efforts in KP

PESHAWAR: The 32nd meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission was held on Tuesday in Peshawar under the chairmanship of KP Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah. Senior officials from the departments of Home, Education, Law, Finance, Health, and Social Welfare, as well as representatives from UNICEF, participated in the meeting. UNICEF representatives provided a detailed briefing on the measures taken at the provincial and particularly the district level for child protection and welfare in KP. They also shared their action plan regarding ongoing services and future initiatives for the care, rights, and protection of children. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Child Protection and Welfare Commission reviewed all legal requirements regarding the provision of government facilities for state children in the province, allocation of funds for child protection in the upcoming fiscal budget, and addressing staff shortages at the district level. Addressing the meeting, the Provincial Minister stated that the current government is taking all necessary steps for the care and protection of children in the province. He emphasized that the government is taking all necessary steps to provide underprivileged and needy children with equal access to education, health, sports, and housing. He added that under the supervision and guidance of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, the Department of Social Welfare is achieving its objectives and taking all necessary steps for the betterment of poor and needy children, which serves as an excellent example of good governance.
