Like elsewhere in the country, International Labour Day was observed in Landi Kotal on Thursday to acknowledge voluble contribution of the labour class.
In this connection a walk was organized that was attended by Tehsil Chairman Haji Shah Khalid, Additional Assistant Commissioner Shahabuddin, local political social figures, government officials and members of civil society.
The participants took a walk from the entrance of Tehsil Compound to the main Landi Kotal Bazaar.
Highlighting services of the labour class, Haji Shah Khalid and others said that the basic objective of observing the Day was to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the working class in addition to creating awareness about their rights and protecting them from exploitation.
We owe national development because of the hard work and contribution of laborers, they opined.
They maintained that through modern skills; the working class could meet the challenges and could more effectively participate in the progress of the country.
They urged to uphold rights of the working class and place a favorable working environment for them.
