As part of the province-wide anti-drug campaign initiated after the declaration of a drug emergency by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Excise Intelligence continues to tighten its grip on drug dealers and traffickers under special directives from Secretary Excise Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah and Director General Excise Abdul Haleem Khan.
In a major operation conducted on Sunday in district Mardan, the Excise Intelligence Bureau, led by Provincial Incharge Saud Khan Gandapur, foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of hashish worth crores of rupees.
The operation took place on Marhati Road near the Wali Interchange, where Excise officials intercepted a suspected vehicle (number BJ 6894).
Following fierce resistance and an exchange of fire, the vehicle was seized. Upon inspection, 172.8 kilograms of hashish were recovered from the vehicle.
A case has been registered at the Excise Police Station in the Mardan Region, and further investigation is underway.
Officials confirmed that similar operations are being carried out day and night to cleanse the province of drug networks and their facilitators.
