PAC reviews audit framework in Kohistan scandal, ensures transparency

A high-level meeting on the Kohistan financial scandal was held in the conference room of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, chaired by Speaker Babar Saleem Swati.
The meeting was attended by the Director General Audit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other relevant assembly officials.
During the session, a detailed briefing was presented on the audit of the past ten years of suspected bank accounts linked to the Kohistan scandal.
The discussion focused on audit access protocols and the finalization of Terms of Reference (TORs) to ensure a transparent and effective investigation.
Speaker Swati emphasized the importance of conducting the audit with complete honesty and transparency, enabling the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to take decisive action and recover funds misappropriated from the public exchequer.
DG Audit provided a comprehensive overview of the audit’s scope and current progress. Speaker Swati underscored the Assembly’s commitment to its constitutional and legal responsibilities, stating that the PAC is fully operational and will act based on the audit findings.
He also directed the DG Audit to ensure thorough preparation and active participation in the upcoming PAC meeting on May 14, dedicated to the Kohistan case.
The Speaker reaffirmed that the KP Assembly stands firm in its resolve to eliminate corruption, uphold the rule of law, and guarantee transparent accountability.
