The Provincial Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, stated that the process of nikah (marriage) should be made easier. In line with this mission, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa successfully organized the third phase of mass marriages.
During a ceremony held in Peshawar here on Friday, 50 underprivileged and orphaned couples were united in marriage.
The Provincial Minister participated as the chief guest and congratulated the couples, saying that in the current era of inflation, fulfilling the sacred duty of marriage has become a burden for many families.
To address this social issue, the government has decided to provide interest-free loans, financial assistance, and other facilities.
During the mass wedding ceremony, each bride received financial assistance of Rs. 200,000 from the Zakat Committee Peshawar, while the groom was provided with an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 500,000 to help them start a respectable life.
Referring to Imran Khan’s welfare vision and the directives of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, Syed Qasim Ali Shah said that the program is being expanded across the province, and similar events will be held in other districts in the coming phases.
The ceremony also included a banquet for guests, gifts for the newlywed couples, distribution of cheques, and pick-and-drop service to the wedding hall.
In conclusion, the Provincial Minister expressed special thanks to the Social Welfare Department and the autonomous organization Savi for making the program successful. He said such charitable spirit deserves appreciation at all levels.
