The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has filed a formal petition with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), calling for an investigation into what it describes as a “mega corruption scandal” worth Rs 40 billion in the Kohistan region.
According to a statement issued by the provincial secretariat of PPP, the petition was submitted by the General Secretary Shazi Khan.
Senior provincial leader of the party Gohar Inqilabi claimed that those who once leveled accusations of corruption against others have now been exposed as “certified thieves.”
He alleged that from 2020 to 2024, a single department in the province witnessed corruption amounting to Rs 40 billion under the watch of individuals who claimed to uphold the principles of the “State of Medina.”
He alleged that a fake construction company was established in the name of a dumper driver, through whose account a staggering Rs 40 billion was funneled.
According to Inqilabi, the corruption was not limited to lower-level employees but involved key figures from the top provincial leadership.
“This is not just petty corruption—it is a well-organized system of looting involving individuals at the highest level of governance,” said Inqilabi.
“The very people who preach morality and religion are themselves steeped in corruption from head to toe.”
He demanded that the names of all those involved be made public and brought to justice.
Inqilabi also criticized the provincial government’s silence, calling it a “deeply concerning response to what may be the worst example of corruption in the province’s history.”
The PPP has urged NAB to initiate a transparent investigation and take immediate action against all those responsible, regardless of their position or political affiliation.
