Fake currency notes factory busted in Peshawar, two held

Acting on a tip-off received by SP City Division Muhammad Atiq Shah, police have successfully dismantled a counterfeit currency factory operating in the Mohmandabad area of the provincial capital. Police told reporters that the operation was led by SHO Police Station Aga Mir Jani Shah, Ijaz Khan, under the supervision of DSP Yakatoot Circle Saeed Khan.
During the raid, two suspects identified as Murad and Taj Muhammad have been arrested from the site. Both individuals were allegedly running the illegal operation, producing fake currency and distributing it across various cities.
The suspects reportedly confessed during the initial investigation to their involvement in the production and smuggling of counterfeit currency. Police recovered a total of Rs 1.225 million in fake Pakistani currency, along with equipment used in the operation including printers, drying machines, specialized paper, cutters, plates, and lasers.
A case has been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway to trace the broader network behind the operation.
