The proposed Integrated Tourism Zone (ITZ) project in the picturesque Ganol Valley of Mansehra-Kaghan is set to become a game-changer for tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, providing a significant boost to the local economy while creating employment opportunities for the region’s youth.
These thoughts were presented by Zahid Chanzeb, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tourism and Culture, while speaking as the chief guest at a key road show organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Department at the Serena Hotel in Islamabad.
Zahid Chanzeb emphasized that the provincial government is not only prioritizing the Ganol Valley ITZ project but is also committed to ensuring the provision of all necessary resources and support for its successful completion. He said efforts are underway to develop Ganol Valley into a world-class tourist destination through seamless coordination between the government, investors, and relevant stakeholders.
The event was attended by several dignitaries and stakeholders including Habib Ullah Arif, Director General of KP Culture and Tourism Authority, Umar Khan, Director Admin and Finance, Aftab Rana, Managing Director of PTDC, and representatives from prominent organizations such as 18 Group of Companies, 7 Valleys, Ded K B, and the Hashoo Foundation.
The ceremony began with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by a welcome address from the adviser.
Chanzeb highlighted the vast investment potential of Ganol Valley, situated at an altitude of 8,000 feet and spanning 60 acres with an additional 177 kanals designated for commercial use. The location’s proximity to key destinations — just 185 kilometers from Islamabad, 31 kilometers from Shogran, and 47 kilometers from Kaghan Valley — significantly enhances its strategic importance.
The proposed facilities for the ITZ include a chairlift, cable car, hotels, resorts, and essential infrastructure. The total estimated cost of the project stands at Rs. 9.7 billion, with an expected completion time of three years and a return on investment within seven years.
The event featured a detailed presentation on the Ganol project, followed by a Q&A session. In his concluding remarks, the adviser reiterated the government’s resolve to transform Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a safe, prosperous, and developed tourist destination.
