KP: FIR filed in fake international driving license scam, one held

PESHAWAR: Anti-Corruption Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has registered a First Information Report (FIR) against individuals involved in the issuance of fake international driving licenses in the Transport Department, a handout said. According to the statement, a computer operator, identified as Murad, has been arrested in connection with the case. The inquiry, which was initiated following the receipt of bogus international driving licenses for verification from Hong Kong and Australia, revealed the involvement of Assistant Director of the Transport Department’s IT wing, Mujahid, and computer operator Murad in the illegal issuance of these counterfeit licenses. In light of the findings, Anti-Corruption Establishment KP filed the FIR under various sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including sections 409 (Criminal Breach of Trust), 419 (Cheating), 420 (Fraud), 468 (Forgery for Purpose of Cheating), 471 (Using Forged Documents), as well as Section 5(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. While Murad, the computer operator, has been arrested, authorities are currently seeking permission from the Chief Secretary KP to arrest Assistant Director IT, Mujahid.
