Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has announced to donate one month salary of federal cabinet for flood affected people of KP.
The PM has directed federal institutions to become more active for extending help to the flood and rain affectees in different districts of KP.
“There is no federal, no provincial government in this trying time. We have to ensure help and rehabilitation of the affected people. Helping the afflicted brothers and sisters is our national obligation. This is not time for playing politics. This is time for serving the people. The respective federal ministers will stay there unless help is provided to last man in flood affected areas and infrastructure is restored.
He said this while presiding over a review meeting on provision of assistance and rehabilitation of flood affectees in KP, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir here in Islamabad Monday.
The meeting was told in briefing that Monsoon will continue till the second week of September. 6 major spells have passed while two more are expected. Their impact will remain till last week of September.
It was informed that the federal government, provincial governments, Pakistan Army, and other institutions have established 456 relief camps and conducted 400 rescue operations so far.
The meeting was told that relief trucks carrying essential goods are being dispatched.
The Prime Minister directed that trucks carrying relief goods should be prioritized for the hardest-hit areas.
It was informed that according to the preliminary estimates, damages to public and private property have exceeded around 126 million rupees.

The Prime Minister pledged the federal government’s full support for flood-hit communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the federal government will also provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased and affected individuals under the Prime Minister’s relief package.
The Prime Minister said Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam will oversee relief and rehabilitation operations in affected areas.
He said the concerned federal ministers will personally monitor the restoration of electricity, water supply, roads and other facilities in the affected areas.
He also directed all the relevant ministers to visit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in person.
Directing the federal institutions to help the flood victims of different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Prime Minister said there is no federal or provincial government in this hour of calamity.
He said we must ensure the assistance and rehabilitation of affected people as helping our distressed Pakistani brothers and sisters is our national responsibility.
