Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Barrister Saif has announced that the provincial government has begun disbursing compensation to flood victims under a special package, which has been doubled on the directives of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.
He said the compensation for families of the deceased has been increased from Rs 1 million to Rs 2 million. A total of Rs 850 million has been released to districts for distribution, with the Chief Minister personally handing over compensation cheques to victims in Swat on Monday. From today, distribution has officially begun across all affected districts.
“In this hour of difficulty, the provincial government stands shoulder to shoulder with the flood victims. The Chief Minister himself is visiting the affected areas,” Dr. Saif stated. He urged the public to remain cautious, avoid rivers and canals during rains, and immediately report emergencies by calling 1700.
The Adviser also said that the Chief Minister will donate his one-month salary to flood victims, while provincial cabinet members will contribute 15 days’ salary, and MPAs seven days’ salary. In addition, government employees in grade 17 and above will donate two days’ salary, while those in grade 1–16 will contribute one day’s salary.
