Provincial Chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao, has said that alleviating the suffering of flood victims should be the government’s foremost priority. He expressed these views while visiting flood-affected areas of Swabi district, where he met bereaved families and interacted with the media.
Sherpao was accompanied by QWP’s Provincial Joint Secretary Iftikhar Khan Zaida, District Chairman Masood Jabbar, General Secretary Akhtar Yousaf, as well as senior party leaders including Javed Zaman Khan Advocate, Sher Wali Khan, Fayyaz Ali Khan, Sohail Farooq, Ghulam Yousaf, and Saeedullah, along with a large number of party workers.
During the visit, the QWP leader expressed solidarity with families who lost loved ones in the disaster and assured them of his party’s full support. He said the recent floods and cloudbursts have caused widespread destruction in several districts of the province, resulting in heavy loss of lives and property.
Calling the plight of the displaced families a “great tragedy,” Sherpao said that the victims are still lying helpless under the open sky. He stressed that the government must mobilize all available resources to ensure their immediate rehabilitation and resettlement.
“This is not the time for politics or number games,” Sherpao said. “It is the time to serve the victims and heal their suffering. All stakeholders must rise above politics and actively participate in relief and restoration work.”
