Donations cheque handed over to officials from provincial sports directorate, Efforts underway to collect further funds to assist flood affectees, says Fazal Moqeem Khan

Under the ongoing donation collection campaign for flood affected people of the province, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry has stepped up efforts to generate maximum funds for restoration, rehabilitation and resettlement of the victims’ families.
In line with the decision of the supreme leadership and executive committee, the SCCI has garnered overwhelming support from its members to become helping hands for the distressed and homeless people from the recent flood and torrential rains in the province, according to a statement here on Tuesday.
SCCI, being the third largest chamber of the country, became hope for calamities-hit people in the past.
By keeping alive its old traditions, the chamber once again became a voice for the flood affected people and launched an organized donation collection campaign, which has yielded positive results.
As seed money, president of the chamber Fazal Moqeem Khan in presence of senior vice president Abdul Jalil Jan, Secretary General Muqtasid Ashan and officials, handed over a cheque that handsome amount, which is being collected through sale of tickets of the charity cricket match, played between Peshawar Zalmi and Legends XI Teams in Imran Khan Cricket Stadium Peshawar in last weekend, to officials of Directorate of Sports, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
We never left alone the flood-affectees in their difficult situation, says Fazal Moqeem Khan, adding that the chamber is mobilizing its entire network of traders and industrialists to contribute generously in cash and in any kind.
He said that the SCCI stands shoulder to shoulder with the victims in their time of distress.
“Their suffering has deeply disturbed us because they are not only Pakistanis but also our Muslim brothers and sisters.
Their pain is our pain. Their loss is our loss,” Moqeem Khan remarked.
SCCI appealed to the business community, philanthropists and people from every segment of the society to send their donations to the SCCI.
He assured that every contribution would be delivered transparently and promptly to the flood victims.
Fazal Moqeem Khan said that the business community would continue to play its role in every national crisis.
“We are hopeful that with collective efforts and the blessings of Almighty Allah, the affected families will rise again and rebuild their lives.
It is pertinent to mention here that SCCI has already established a special fund for monetary assistance, rehabilitation and resettlement of the flood affected people.
In this regard, President Fazal Moqeem Khan made an appeal from the chamber members to donate Rs50,000 per home and assured the donations will reach to deserving people by following transparent and efficient manner.
