LAHORE: Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz has imposed ban on cutting of trees in the guise of auction of timber. Decision has been taken to abolish traditional system of auction of timber. Under the orders of CM Punjab, ban has been imposed on auction of timber of every kind. New, transparent rules and regulations will be evolved with the help of modern technology in the process of cutting of trees and auction of timber so that the ruthless cutting of trees could be stopped. Director General Forest Department has been directed to ensure implementation of order.
Formal notification in this regard has been issued under which ban on auction of all kinds of timber will remain in place till further orders. APP
