On the behalf of the prime minister Shehbaz Sharif,federal minister for political and public affairs, Amir Muqam handed over containers carrying 105 tons of relief goods to Afghan authorities at Torkham border on Thursday.
The relief assistance was formally handed over by federal minister Amir Muqam, to Afghan consul general Hafiz Mohebullah Shakir and other Afghan officials during a ceremony held at the border crossing in Torkham.
Federal Minister Amir Muqam was accompanied by senior officials of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), assistant commissioner Landikotal Afrasiab Zubair, security officials, former MPAs Shafiq Sher Afridi and Bilawal Afridi, as well as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Malik Sardar Azam Afridi, Malik Syed Ghajan Afridi, Sajid Ali Afridi and a number of tribal elders and dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Afghan authorities thanked the Pakistani government for extending timely support to the earthquake-affected people of Afghanistan and appreciated the goodwill gesture. They said that such cooperation strengthens the bonds of friendship and brotherhood between the two neighboring countries.
