Merit-based police appointments underway in Peshawar: CCPO

Several police officers appeared before a special committee on Tuesday for consideration for appointments to Station House Officer (SHO) and other key positions within the Capital City Police, Peshawar. The process follows the submission of applications by eligible and aspiring officers seeking these important posts.
The committee, chaired by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed, includes SSP Operations Masood Ahmed and all divisional Superintendents of Police (SPs). It is tasked with conducting a thorough evaluation of the applicants’ qualifications, past performance, and professional capabilities to ensure merit-based postings.
Speaking on the occasion, CCPO Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmed emphasized that merit and transparencyare the top priorities in the ongoing selection process. “The purpose of this initiative is to make the Peshawar police system more effective, efficient, and people-friendly,” he said.
He reaffirmed that appointments to key positions will be made strictly on the basis of merit, competence, and performance, with the objective of improving public service delivery and strengthening institutional credibility.
