KHYBER: Village and Neighborhood sectaries charge extra- money in issuing birth certificates in normal category, residents of Landi Kotal claimed. Dwellers of Landi Kotal including Malik Shah,Gul Rahman and others said that VC and NC sectaries asked for Rs.300 per birth certificate as an urgent fee however they put it in normal or late categories. As per the official the normal fees of the birth certificate is Rs.100, comprises Rs. 77 0f NADRA, Rs. 13 13 VC/NC and Rs. 10 for the sectaries. The applicants said that the sectaries received hundreds of applications daily all in urgent category but didn’t maintain a record of additional money they charged. Only Rs 100 were deposited in the official account of Local Government and the rest of Rs 200 per certificate were embezzled, they blamed. Number of VC/NC chairmen confirmed the corruption and said that the relevant officials were involved in the irregularities. The sectaries fleeced locals with both hands, they remarked. The political and social figures demanded of the concerned authorities to take serious notice of the alleged irregularities of the VC/NC secretaries in Landi Kotal and grant exemplary punishment to those found involved in it.
