PESHAWAR: Commissioner Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mehsud has directed intensified measures to control prices of essential commodities and ensure the availability of quality food items at government rates. The orders were issued during a video link meeting with Deputy Commissioners and District Police Officers from all five districts of Peshawar Division, including Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mohmand, and Khyber, a handout said. Under the provincial action plan, the commissioner emphasized strict market surveys through Assistant Commissioners to keep flour prices moderate. He also called for intensified raids to prevent the sale of adulterated or overpriced food products. Other key directives included making open courts effective for resolving public issues promptly, accelerating the registration of non-custom paid vehicles in tribal districts Mohmand and Khyber, and completing madrasa registrations across all districts. With the approaching seasonal change, preventive measures against dengue fever were also to be reinforced, alongside curbing illegal mining activities. Commissioner Mehsud stressed the importance of controlling prices and ensuring public access to essential commodities at fair rates. He concluded the meeting by ordering a comprehensive review next week to assess progress on the provincial action plan. DLP Report
