In a significant move to combat the menace of drug abuse among youth, the District Youth Office South Waziristan Lower, under the supervision of Director Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dr.Nauman Mujahid and in collaboration with a local humanitarian organization, organized an Anti-Drug Awareness and Prevention Seminar & Walk at Tehsil Shakai. The initiative was undertaken on the directions of Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan Lower, Mussarat Zaman and Directorate of Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The awareness seminar aimed to educate, engage and empower the youth by shedding light on the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of collective community action to eradicate it. The event featured an awareness walk followed by a series of impactful speeches by prominent local figures.
Addressing the participants,the prominent speakers emphasized the urgent need for unified efforts to curb the spread of narcotics in the region.
They highlighted the devastating social and health consequences of drug addiction and urged the youth to play a proactive role in fostering a drug-free society.
Speakers stressed that rising drug use poses a severe threat to the younger generation and is emerging as a major public health crisis.
They called upon parents, teachers, religious leaders and civil society to join hands in raising awareness and supporting rehabilitation initiatives.
Such preventive initiatives are seen as a vital component in the broader strategy to promote healthy lifestyles and safeguard the future of the youth in Waziristan. The event concluded with a renewed commitment from participants to continue advocacy and outreach efforts at the grassroots level.
