Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly speaker Babar Saleem Swati on Wednesday described reports on his resignation as unfounded and labeling them as entirely false and a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation.
In a statement issued, the Speaker’s spokesperson described the news as “a hoax and the worst example of rumor-mongering,” asserting that there was no truth to the claims.
“These baseless rumors are being spread by weak and desperate elements within the party who are trying, in vain, to undermine the leadership,” the spokesperson said.
He emphasized that such tactics will neither affect the leadership’s decisions nor sway Speaker Swati’s unwavering commitment to the party and its Chairman, Imran Khan.
“Speaker Babar Saleem Swati stands firm like a rock with his leadership,” the spokesperson stated. “He has made it clear that if a decision to resign is ever taken, it will not be under pressure from any conspiratorial group or political opponents, but solely on the direction of Chairman Imran Khan.”
Following the resignation of two ministers from Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s cabinet, speculations surfaced on social media claiming that KP Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swati had also tendered his resignation. However, these claims have been strongly denied by the Speaker’s office.
