Students of the Government Postgraduate College in Landikotal have expressed serious concern over the delay in the commencement of the BS computer science program, warning that if their demands were not met within three days, they will stage protests and block the Pak-Afghan Highway.
Addressing a press conference at the district press club Landikotal on Saturday president of the college students association, Dawood Shinwari, general secretary Basit and other cabinet members said that it has been over a month since the intermediate examination results were announced. They said despite the enough time taken admissions process for the BS program could not not begun so far.
The student leaders said that all necessary arrangements for the BS computer science program, including the establishment of a computer lab, were completed last year but the college administration failed to inform the university authorities in time. Dawood said the due to the college administration negligence caused the university’s inspection visit delayed and as a result, admissions process couldn’t kicked off.
The students further said that the admission portal coild only be opened after the university’s visit, which has been repeatedly postponeded, causing great concern among students. They demanded the immediate opening of the admission portal to prevent further loss of their valuable time.
The students urged the college and university administrations, parliamentarians and education department to take prompt notice of the issue. The students warned that if their demands were not fulfilled within three days, they would launch a protest movement, including blocking the Pak-Afghan Highway.
