Dr. Benish Aleem from the Institute of Pathology and Diagnostic Medicine, Khyber Medical University (KMU) Peshawar, has successfully completed her PhD in the field of Oral Pathology. She has achieved the distinction of becoming the first scholar to earn a PhD in Oral Pathology from KMU, a significant milestone in the university’s academic and research history.
Her PhD research was supervised by Prof. Dr. Asif Ali, while Prof. Dr. Syed Ali Khurram from the University of Sheffield, UK, and Prof. Dr. Muslim Khan from Khyber College of Dentistry, Peshawar, served as co-supervisors. The title of her PhD thesis was “Investigation of Immunohistochemical Prognostic Biomarker Signature for Oral Cancer.”
In her research, Dr. Benish studied the role of immunehistochemical biomarkers in oral cancer. Her findings are expected to make a significant contribution to the scientific understanding of oral cancer pathology and may help in formulating improved diagnostic and therapeutic guidelines in the future.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor KMU, Prof. Dr. Zia ul Haq, congratulated Dr. Benish Aleem, her supervisors, and the Institute of Pathology and Diagnostic Medicine on this remarkable achievement. He stated that this success reflects KMU’s strong commitment to promoting research and innovation. He further added that such accomplishments not only enhance the university’s academic reputation but also pave the way for practical and impactful research to address public health challenges both locally and globally.
