Board members review steps for development of KDA

A meeting of the Kumrat Development Authority (KDA) Board was held at the office of the Department of Tourism here on Wednesday, said a handout.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Abdul Samad, Secretary Tourism, and attended by Board Chairman Nasrullah Khan, Director KDA Zameen Khan, Member National Assembly Sahibzada Sibghatullah, and Member Provincial Assembly Malik Gul Ibrahim Khan.
During the meeting, the Director KDA presented a detailed briefing on the progress made so far and the challenges faced by the Authority. The board was informed about the ongoing efforts regarding staff recruitment, identification of suitable land for the establishment of the KDA office, and the rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged during recent floods.
Secretary Dr. Abdul Samad instructed that construction of new hotels and tourism-related structures in Kumrat and its adjoining areas must strictly adhere to the approved building codes to ensure the preservation of the region’s natural beauty and ecological balance. He also directed the concerned officials to expedite the process of identifying a suitable site for the Authority’s office and initiating the recruitment of essential staff.
Recommendations regarding the provision of necessary equipment and vehicles for the Authority were also discussed. Secretary Dr. Abdul Samad assured that the Department of Tourism will extend full support and provide all possible resources and technical assistance to the Kumrat Development Authority to transform Kumrat into a modern, sustainable, and eco-friendly tourist destination.
Furthermore, the meeting reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the tourism sector in line with the vision of Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Suhail Afridi and the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — focusing on sustainable development, creation of local employment opportunities, and the provision of world-class tourism facilities.
A comprehensive strategy is being implemented to introduce Kumrat and other scenic destinations of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the international level through improved infrastructure, environmental protection, and the promotion of community-based tourism.
