KHYBER
Number of political workers, transporters, laborers and clearing agents held a protest demonstration against prolonged closure of the Torkham border on Wednesday.
Organized at Bacha Khan Chawk, the rally was addressed by Haji Muqthader Shah Afridi, Mirajuddin Shinwari, Mufti Ijaz, Aftab Shinwari, Qari Nazeem Gul and others.
They said that more than two weeks long suspension of the border multiplied problems of not only pedestrians but also people associated with bilateral trades of the two neighboring countries.
The closure of Torkham border was an economic murder of the local people as thousands of daily wagers and laborers were deprived of their lonely source of income, they added.
They called upon the leaders of the both countries to sit together and find a negotiated solution to the issues being faced by Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Aimed slogans for resuming the Torkham border, the speakers threatened that they would extend their agitation to the roads if their demand was not instantly addressed.
