KP provincial cabinet members respond to Ikhtiyar Wali’s press conference

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Local Government, Meena Khan Afridi, and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafiullah Jan, termed the allegations made by Ikhtiyar Wali against the Chief Minister as fabricated and unfounded. Addressing a press conference in Peshawar, Minister Afridi said that some people have a problem with the Chief Minister’s election, which is why they continue to make baseless accusations. He said that PTI was unfairly targeted in connection with the May 9 incidents.
Rejecting the video presented by Ikhtiyar Wali as fake, Meena Khan stated that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi was in Peshawar on May 9, not in Lahore. He announced that the provincial cabinet would approve the formation of a commission to investigate the burning of Radio Pakistan Peshawar in order to identify those responsible. Meena Khan further said that Ikhtiyar Wali holds an illegal position and is making false statements against the Chief Minister.
On this occasion, Special Assistant for Information and PRs Shafiullah Jan said that Ikhtiyar Wali has no real authority and is has been given his position accidentally, adding that his press conference was a bundle of lies.
He said that the fake video was distorted to mislead the public and falsify facts. Shafiullah Jan emphasized that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the only province in the country with a legitimate, democratically elected government, while all other governments are standing on fake mandates.
He reiterated that despite court orders, Sohail Afridi is not being allowed to meet the PTI founder. Responding to a question, he said that the government’s full focus is on maintaining law and order and implementing administrative reforms leading to good governance. He added that good news for the people will be announced soon. He further added that the High Court would be approached regarding the May 9 investigations, and a new inquiry committee will also be established to ascertain facts.
