A devastating explosion ripped through the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in Peshawar on Sunday, claiming the life of a police official and injuring two others.
According to Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad, the blast occurred due to a short circuit that triggered a fire, spreading to the arms depot and causing a powerful explosion.
A heavy police contingent and security forces rushed to the scene, cordoning off the area and initiating a clearance operation. Rescue teams, the Bomb Disposal Unit, and fire brigade personnel responded promptly.
Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was accidental, with no evidence of terrorism.
later, Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad, paid a visit to CMH Hospital to see injured policeman Zaitullah, who sustained injuries in the recent CTD police station blast.
Accompanied by SSP Operations Masood Ahmad, SP Cantonment Ahtramaz Khan, and other senior police officials, Dr. Ahmad expressed his concern for the injured personnel’s well-being and prayed for their swift recovery.
The CCPO directed the hospital administration to provide the best possible medical treatment to the injured personnel. Dr. Mian Saeed Ahmad reaffirmed the police department’s solidarity with its personnel, stating that the sacrifices of the police force will always be a matter of pride.
