allegations of drug smuggling
ISLAMABAD
The Supreme Court of Pakistan has reinstated FC official Hassan Afridi, setting aside his dismissal from service on allegations of drug smuggling. The case was heard by a two-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah. Afridi had challenged his termination, arguing that he was dismissed solely on the basis of an intelligence report without any concrete evidence. During the hearing, Afridi’s counsel, Umar Farooq, contended that the dismissal was made on the basis of a confidential intelligence report, and no independent or verifiable material was produced to substantiate the allegation.
