A review meeting of the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department was held on Thursday at the Civil Secretariat, Peshawar, under the chairmanship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Syed Fakhar Jehan.The meeting reviewed in detail the fallow up and implementation status of cabinet decisions and other key departmental tasks.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Khalid Ilyas, Director General Abdul Haleem Khan, Additional DG, Directors, and other senior officers, while Regional Directors participated online via Zoom.
During the meeting, comprehensive discussions were held on matters pertaining to vehicle registration, issuance of number plates, tax collection, and various departmental laws.
The progress of ongoing initiatives under the government’s Zero Tolerance Policy against narcotics was also thoroughly reviewed.
The provincial minister directed all relevant sections to accelerate the pace of implementation of assigned tasks and responsibilities to strengthen the department’s governance framework on sustainable lines for the benefit of the public.
Syed Fakhar Jehan reaffirmed that the Excise Department will continue its proactive efforts to enhance provincial revenues, strengthen transparency, and effectively combat narcotics across the province.
He emphasized that narcotics control remains one of the top priorities of the provincial government, adding that no negligence or complacency will be tolerated in this regard so that the younger generation can be protected from this growing menace.
