ECP reserves judgment on delay in LB polls in Islamabad

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has reserved judgment on delay in Local Bodies (LB) Polls in Islamabad
A 5-member bench of ECP led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja heard the case Thursday.
Additional secretary interior ministry, Nazar Muhammad Buzdar and chief commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali appeared before ECP.
CEC remarked that matter has reached chief officer.
Additional secretary interior said interior secretary is in high court who will come after some time.
The elections were postponed for the reason the union councils were increased by the government.
Zafar Iqbal said the ECP again issued election program. Delimitations of constituencies were made .
Special secretary said the schedule was not issued earlier due to reserved seats. ECP has now completed all arrangements. The delimitation of constituencies including election material are complete. Case has been running in high court in this regard and now decision has been reserved.
CEC said Election Commission (EC) will now announce date for election. It is not binding on us that election should be got conducted through secretaries union councils. Elections have been held in three provinces.
He said elections are going to be held in Punjab. Matter related to Punjab has been resolved. Elections will be held soon therein.
CEC said local government has not been established in Islamabad so far. EC will give decision and it will have to be implemented.
CEC said it is not joke that elections are postponed every time. Now we have not summoned any one in person. Interior secretary was asked to take it seriously. Now we will issue decision.
