KP Assembly marks universal Children’s Day with mock parliamentary session

A special and informative session was held at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on the occasion of Universal Children’s Day, supported by UNICEF and aligned with the vision of Speaker Babar Saleem Swati. Students from various private educational institutions participated enthusiastically, while special children also showcased their talents through different dialogue presentations that were warmly appreciated by the audience.
A symbolic Assembly session was also conducted by female students in the Jirga Hall, following complete parliamentary procedures similar to those observed by government and opposition members. Students performed the roles of Speaker, Ministers, Opposition Members, and other parliamentary positions, gaining practical exposure to legislative processes and Assembly proceedings.
The event was attended by Special Assistant for Finance Muzammil Aslam, UNICEF Chief Field Officer Mr. Radek, Special Secretary Admin KP Assembly Syed Waqar Shah, former MPA Ayesha Bano, and other distinguished guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Special Secretary Admin Syed Waqar Shah said that under the vision and leadership of Speaker KP Assembly Babar Saleem Swati, the series of study tours and educational sessions is successfully continuing to familiarize youth with the parliamentary system, legislative procedures, and democratic values.
He appreciated UNICEF’s cooperation, stating that such initiatives not only encourage students but also foster leadership skills, confidence, and democratic awareness. He expressed hope that UNICEF would continue to support similar positive and constructive activities in the future.
In conclusion, commemorative shields were presented to the participants, while students expressed their joy at experiencing the practical working of the Assembly firsthand.
