In another instance of land confiscation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), authorities under Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha have attached ancestral land of Mubashir Ahmad in Tral, Pulwama district, according to Kashmir Media Service.
Police, acting on LG Sinha’s orders, seized four marlas of Ahmad’s land in Syedabad Pastuna, citing alleged involvement in “pro-freedom activities,” a justification frequently used to appropriate Kashmiri properties. A notice placed on the land prohibited its sale, lease, or transfer to any third party.
Since the revocation of IIOJK’s special status in August 2019, the administration has intensified such actions, confiscating hundreds of homes, lands, and businesses. These measures are seen as part of efforts to economically marginalize Kashmiris and alter the territory’s demographic composition by transferring properties to non-local residents.
