NGOs asked to get registered with HR directorate KP

PESHAWAR: The Directorate General Law and Human Rights, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has directed all non-governmental organizations (NGOs) engaged in the protection and promotion of human rights to complete their registration within 60 days, if they are not already registered. According to the Focal Person of the Directorate General Law and Human Rights, the directive has been issued under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Non-Governmental Organizations Registration (Working in the Field of Human Rights) Rules, 2024. The move aims to ensure transparency, effective oversight, and improved coordination among organizations operating in the human rights sector across the province. The focal person stated that the registration process is intended to further strengthen efforts for the protection and promotion of human rights by streamlining the activities of relevant organizations. He said that NGOs failing to complete the registration process within the stipulated time frame will be liable to a late fee of five percent of the prescribed registration fee per day. DLP Report
In cases of persistent non-compliance, the Directorate General may initiate action, including the closure of the NGO’s operations, in accordance with the law.
All concerned NGOs have been advised to comply with the directive within the given period to avoid penalties and legal action.
