The electricity tariff is likely to be slashed by 72 paisas per unit. Power tariff is likely to be reduced by paisas 72 per unit under monthly Fuel Adjustment in case the application filed by Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) is accepted.
CPPA has filed monthly fuel adjustment application in NEPRA. National Electric Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will hear the application on December 31. The application said overall 7 billion, 81 crore and 30 lac units electricity was provided to DISCOs in the month of November.
According to documents filed in NEPRA cost of electricity per unit remained Rs 6.16 in the month of November.
It was further told in the documents that different sources were used in the production of electricity.
39.16 percent electricity was generated from water, 9.34 percent from local coal, 5.06 percent from imported coal. 8.44 percent from gas, 8.64 percent from imported LNG and 25.23 percent from nuclear fuel.
In the event of acceptance of application by NEPRA, relief of 72 paisas per unit will be provided to the consumers.
