A consultation meeting held here on Thursday with provincial minister for education Arshad Ayub Khan in the chair, deliberated on utilization of Net Hydel Profit (NHP) royalties under newly developed mechanism introduced by the Planning and Development (P&D), a handout said.
The meeting was attended by MPAs Akbar Ayub Khan, Malik Adeel Iqbal and other officials of the provincial government.
During the meeting, Hamid Naveed, Chief Regional Development (RD), and Hashmat Ali, Project Director (PD), KDDP, provided a comprehensive briefing to the Honorable Members of Parliament on the new mechanism, its objectives, and the modalities for its implementation.
The briefing was received with keen interest and was appreciated by the Members as informative and well-articulated.
The forum expressed strong appreciation for the new model, terming it a practical, efficient, and forward-looking initiative aimed at ensuring fair, transparent, and timely utilization of NHP royalties.
They noted that the simplified and structured approach would significantly enhance accountability and accelerate the implementation of development initiatives.
The discussion also emphasized the inclusion of key sectors such as livelihoods and Natural Resource Management (NRM), in addition to infrastructure development.
The meeting highlighted that this integrated and diversified sectoral focus would play a vital role in promoting sustainable and inclusive development across the region.
They commended the initiatives undertaken by the Planning and Development Department and appreciated the efforts of the Secretary P&D and Additional Chief Secretary for spearheading such forward looking reforms in the province.
They acknowledged that these reforms would lead to improved fund utilization and more effective and timely financing of development schemes.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to collaboratively support the effective implementation of the new mechanism for the socio-economic uplift of the people of Haripur and the province as a whole.
