Shafi Jan condemns Karak attack, vows steps for law and order

Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, has strongly condemned the attack on a police mobile van in Karak district, calling the martyrdom of police officers “extremely regrettable.”
He confirmed that an assistant sub-inspector and five police personnel lost their lives during the attack while on patrol.
Shafi Jan emphasized that terrorists cannot weaken the provincial government’s resolve to maintain law and order.
Highlighting the measures taken to strengthen security, he said the government, under Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, was actively working to enhance police capacity and maintain peace across the province. Plans have been approved to boost the capabilities of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Special Branch.
The cabinet has sanctioned Rs 17 billion for the CTD, of which Rs 7 billion has been released immediately, while Rs 14 billion has been allocated for the Special Branch, he said and added that these funds will be utilized for weapons procurement, armored vehicles, recruitment, and establishing offices.
Shafi Jan also furthered that community cooperation need to be strengthened, citing a jirga organized in the provincial assembly where political leaders and representatives of various schools of thought issued a unanimous 15-point declaration aimed at strengthening law and order.
CM aide maintained that the provincial government highly values the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives in the service of peace.
