Interfaith unity celebrated at joint Christmas event in Peshawar

Blue Veins, a non-governmental organization, in collaboration with the National Commission for the Advancement of Minorities (NCA), hosted a successful interfaith Christmas celebration in Peshawar, bringing together people from various religious communities to promote social cohesion, peace, and mutual respect.
The event, held in the spirit of Christmas, united members of the Muslim, Christian, Hindu, and Sikh communities, alongside religious leaders, youth activists, civil society representatives, and media professionals.
Together, they celebrated the season while emphasizing the shared values of respect, dignity, and unity that define Pakistan’s diverse society.
Speakers at the event highlighted the importance of pluralism and coexistence as foundational elements of a peaceful and resilient society. They stressed that embracing diversity fosters social harmony, counters intolerance, and contributes to building a stronger, more inclusive nation where citizens feel respected and valued, irrespective of their faith or belief.
Former Member of Provincial Assembly Ravi Kumar and Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Waqas Khokhar, both of whom underscored the importance of interfaith engagement in fostering trust and unity across communities.
Ravi Kumar stated, “Religious diversity is not a weakness but a strength. Celebrations like Christmas remind us that peace, compassion, and mutual respect are shared values across all faiths, and celebrating together strengthens social harmony.”
MNA Waqas Khokhar said that social cohesion grows when communities come together with understanding and respect. Interfaith initiatives that engage youth and religious leaders are essential in promoting peace and stability in our society.
Laiba Yousafzai, speaking on behalf of Blue Veins, emphasized the broader significance of pluralism for national unity, noting, “Pluralism is the foundation of a peaceful society. When people from different faiths stand together in mutual respect, it strengthens social cohesion and reinforces the vision of a democratic, inclusive, and peaceful Pakistan.
